Question by ann25: What does soul legal and physical custody mean?
I was just granted soul legal and physical custody of my children, and I wanted more information on what it means.
Answer by michelob86It means you have all rights and responsibilities over your children (i.e. you are the SOLE decider for their well-being…no one else, ex-mates, husbands included)

Sole. YOu are in complete control of their custody subject to no other influence except the law
I have never heard of “soul” custody. Maybe you mean sole custody which means you are the custodian to your children and you only. You have all legal rights as the parent and physical means that they will live with you and be with you and you make all the decisions until they are of age. Different states have different rules set, so check with your attorney or a judge where you reside.
It’s all you!
There are two forms of custody, legal custody and physical custody. Unless the parents lives very close to each other, only one parent can have primary physical custody. You have been awarded sole physical custody, which means the children live with you at all times (Although your ex could have been given some visitation, supervised or unsupervised.) The other type of custody is legal custody. Joint legal custody means you have to consult with the other parent in making decisions regarding the children. You have also been granted sole legal custody. That means you never need to consult with the other parent about any issues regarding your children. Sole legal custody is unusual. You are obviously a superior parent and the Court has recognized that fact.
Sole legal and physical custody — means only YOU are responsible for your children both legally and physically.
Sole physical custody means you and you alone have the right and obligation to have your children live with you.
Sole legal custody means only you and you alone have the say when it comes to deciding legal matters about your children.
It means that you have SOLE legal, physical custody and that no one else shares custody with you…it does not mean that the other parent does not have visitation rights but they have no custody or legal rights of their children at this point. It also does not mean you are not entitled to child support…you just make all the decisions regarding the health and well being of your children and they live with you full time.
